about

I wrote this tune quite a few years ago.
Don't really remember how it came about,
Been playing it live for quite a while, glad I finally got it recorded.
Thanks to Pete Supersano for his help.

lyrics

I'm just a poor, unlearned man
living dirt poor in an uncaring land.
I don't know why I'm here
locked in San Quentin
for 35 years.

Now my best years, I had me a wife,
She and my children were my whole life.
Now as I sit here in this crossbar hotel,
here is my story, my story to tell.

They say I killed here, it's what I feared,
the police where there before the smoke cleared,
now as I sit here, it all seems like a joke,
I killed my wife, with second hand smoke.

Coughing Solo:

They say I killed here, it's what I feared,
the police where there before the smoke cleared,
now as I sit here, it all seems like a joke,
I killed my wife, with second hand smoke
